Focus on Commissions - private clients
There are several types of commissions that I do on a regular basis and they all work in slightly different ways. There are private, corporate, medical, hospitality, art in public places, and public art commissions. Interior Designers often order on behalf of their clients. For this "Focus", I will discuss commissions for private clients.

Private commissions occur when someone likes my work or their interior designer recommends my work but nothing that I have available is "just right". The art can be for residences or for closely held businesses. There is usually a specific space that the artwork is intended for, and a budget range. Often there has been a specific work of art that is the right style or "feel" but just isn't right for the space in either color or size.

Commissions, Projects, Shows

Laguna Beach Artist Open Studios, 1st Saturday of each month, October-March. Art studios in Laguna will be open 11am - 4pm (including mine).
In November I will be in North Carolina for a show opening but the studio will be open with guest artists:
Cherril Doty and Suzette Rosenthal who will be showing their work.

Mercy Medical Center, Merced, Ca. 24 paintings in 7 ethnically inspired themes. The designs were inspired from textiles and crafts. Currently in production in the studio. Come see the progress at the Artist Open Studio.

225°F: Encaustic Encounters - a curated, invitational exhibition
Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, Main Gallery
Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina
Nov 6th, 2009 - Feb 6th, 2010
This exhibition will focus on naturalistic themes from the work of exceptional, encaustic artists who challenge the established traditions of the media.

New pieces that I have just completed will be in the studio in October, prior to shipping.

Oklahoma Experiment Station, Ardmore, OK - Public Art Project for Oklahoma State University.
The designs for the metal panels of this public art sculpture are currently being refined. Installation will be next summer.

St Mark's Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah - metal sculpture featuring state symbols: rice grass, sego lily, and california gull in steel with a brown patina. (in production, sketch on left)
