Focus on
"225° F: Encaustic Encounters" - Turchin Center for the Visual Arts The first three rows on the encaustic painting page are the works that were selected for this show. They include new sculptures "Forest Houses" which are made from wood, gauze, rice papers that are monoprinted with leaves, encaustic and wire. My explorations for this show were with the translucency of encaustics. In the "Quiet Footsteps" works I used silk, rice papers monoprinted with translucent leaf prints and gauze fused together with encaustic medium over my photographs of nature details. In other works such as "Whispers", I used hand made tools to apply the encaustic in overlapping, translucent layers building up deeply textured surfaces. |
